Behind the Collection: Picnic at Hanging Rock

One of the inspirations behind our summer collection was Peter Weir's 1975 film Picnic at Hanging Rock.  As someone with a penchant for Edwardian whites the film is a visual wonderland. With its pan flute and ethereal, dreamy mood it transports you to another place and time.

It made me think about silhouettes that are romantic and nostalgic but still updated for today with just the right hint of the past lingering in the details. The color palette is inspired by all the shades of white & cream found in antique lawn dresses from long ago -- as if you opened a locked wooden wardrobe in your attic, soft white cotton voiles, embroidered eyelet, ecrus and creams oh my!

I hope you enjoy it!
